I gamble on
I once woke up to a real fine morning
Feeling like a million dollars, in cash!
Heard the scream, “The bulls lost wing”
Was worth a lot less in a flash.
I once was a medicine man, a famous herb peddler
Saved a health inspector, with an unnamed powder.
When he came ‘round he said, “You a registered healer?”
“You look like a quack. Where’s your degree mister?”
I gamble on, I gamble on.
That everyday a night will come
Even when my eyes are closed, I’m on!
Like you I’m betting on the morning sun
I was once a fine upright citizen,
Now I’m a many aliased netizen
Forewarned, I still watch & letch with google eyes
Though told, “At both ends of the net, a dog lies”
I live in digital karma, reincarnate electronically.
Immortal in server space that’s free, How can that be?
Someday, someone will sell this closet’s key,
I sure hope other skeletons bury me.
I gamble on, I gamble on.
That everyday a night will come
Even when my eyes are closed, I’m on!
Like you I’m betting on the morning sun
Now prophets don’t come down for each other
And but for the saved, we’d lose the savior
So before you search & stone me, remember
I’m a saint with a past & a sinner with a future
This then's the gamble & the gamble goes on
In all of us, day & night will come
This then's the gamble & the gamble goes on
In all of us, there’s day & night, black & white, and then some
This then's the gamble & the gamble goes on
When people get together, they’re betting on the morning sun
